Google TV: Watch Movies & TV App Reviews

Like most Google products, has many rough edges. Toggling "Downloaded Only" and trying to browse your library locks the app for tens of seconds- this bug has existed for at least a year. The iPhone X has been out for months, and a simple video app hasnt been updated to fill the screen (pretty important for a video app).

This app is so bad that I started to get so excited sick

Does the job, but its really obvious that the video player gets less love than YouTubes. No way to quickly skip back or forward by 10/15 seconds and no fine scrubbing control means good luck trying to back up just enough to hear that one line you missed 5 seconds ago. Theres also no custom volume indicator, so anytime you adjust the volume, the giant grey square default iOS overlay pops up and covers half the screen.

Though while trying to play this from my phone to my Apple box, it pauses through the movie or tv show I’m watching. But love the app with the cast to the smart tv. Just wanted to let u know about the glitch with casting from the phone to the Apple box. I wanted to add for those that use google play music and get the YouTube as well. Allow the YouTube to access your purchases. You’ll be able to watch them on your YouTube page. Just realized that.

This will not allow me to rent a movie, download it, and play while connected to my tv. It displays some message about protected movies. I’ll go back to getting movies from iTunes and Amazon video. At least they allow playback on my tv. What a useless app this is.

Please add the IPHONE X update. The movie should fit the screen. Kills it to see just half or a little more of screen on widescreen. Aside of that solid platform.

I love the app but how the hell do you download movies?? I got the google play gift card and I have no idea where or how to use it

I have not been able to play any movies or tv shows through this app for several weeks. It used to work just fine, but all of the sudden it says that the media file is not supported and does nothing.

I want to be able to pay for the movies on the app. I don’t want to have to get on a computer or something to have to pay for them.

This app is so stupid you can only ever add to your wishlist deleting this app! ?

Wish it was compatible with iPhone X

Im an Android user who only just recently switched over to an iPhone X. Im really disappointed to see this app lacking full screen support on the X. Google has updated most of their other apps on iOS--this one needs a quick update. Additionally, it would be amazing if I could continue to browse and purchase content via this app.

No option to watch movies full screen on iPhone X or iPad. All movies look tiny as a result. iTunes movies are all full screen.

Can you guys and gals update for the iPhone X... please?

Using a generation one Chromecast. The app is extremely unstable. I have to power cycle my phone in order to connect. During playback, I consistently lose the ability to control what is playing. I am using the most recent version, updated three minutes ago. Please make your app more stable.

As an iPhone user, I was distraught I couldn’t chromecast movies I rented on iTunes. I made a wild guess and looked this up—finding it on a whim. I get to rent movies, watch them on my TV, and the curious cat who obsesses over the cast that I am is satisfied by the app showing me which stars are on screen at all times. Could only be happier if this was advertised better so I didn’t waste so much money on iTunes.

Great service!!! Easy to load and play my movies, outstanding selection, and fair prices?

I know the quality of these can be 1080p. When viewing these movies on Youtube, or when streaming, I get amazing HD quality. However, I lack internet connection due to how much I move around, so I tend to download my movies to watch. I’ve stopped using iTunes due to the convenience and versatility of Google Play, but there is a sacrifice. I have the option to download iTunes movies to my iPad in SD or HD, however, when I play downloaded Google Play Movies on my iPad, they always play at 480p. This is a MAJOR inconsistence, as I pay the price of the HD version of a movie without the ability to take advantage of it. PLEASE change this, Google. I don’t want to switch back to iTunes movies, but I can’t continue to use Google Play Movies like this. A simple option in settings for download quality would make this app a 5/5.
